Art Analysis:
"Never Grow Up" By Mondo x Cyclops Print Works

"Never Grow Up" was a showcase that took place in Austin, Texas on March 28, 2017. The gallery featured artwork dedicated to Disney movies and shows. The showcase was a collaboration between Mondo and Cyclops Print Works. Both companies create posters and fan fiction for different movies and television shows. The companies are made up of multiple artist who help create these posters or fan fiction.

The photo on the right is one of the posters that was featured in the gallery. The poster was created by Matt Taylor. Matt Taylor is a well-known illustrator and designer from the United Kindom. His poster stood out to me because it's personally one of my favorites because it has a lot of life to it. The color is very vivid and lively. The posters main focus is the genie, which is a little unusual because when most artist try to capture Aladdin, its usually centered around Jafar or Aladdin with Jasmine on the magic carpet. The poster creates an illusion that when you go back to watch the movie you question whether the Genie holds all the cards. Although Aladdin is the main character in the poster, he is smaller than everything else, causing the effect of the genie having a lot of control. The colors in the poster are very bold. The color blue is very repetitive while white helps it pop more.

On the left is another photo by Matt Taylor. In this photo he uses a lot of vibrant colors to capture a particular scene in the movie, The Lion King.  The scene that was captured was the one when Simba, Nala, and Zazu are walking and break out in song, "can't wait to be king". In the middle to the end of the song, the other animals begin to sing along also. Looking at Matt Taylor's artwork you can tell that when he creates he likes to capture movies from a different point of view. Usually when you see a Lion King poster, its a picture of Simba being held up to the sky by Rafiki over a cliff while the other animals look up. The colors Matt uses are very vibrant and aggressive.

Matt Taylor is not the only artist that was featured in the "Never Grow Up" Disney gallery showcase. Artist like Jonathon Burton, Marc Aspinall,  Jessica Seamans, Rosemary Valero-O'Connell, and so many more had their artwork and designs featured in the showcase. On the right is a picture by Rosemary Valero-O'Connell. The image was inspired by the kids show Lilo and Stitch, a show about a Hawaiian girl named Lilo and an alien life form named Stitch. Stitch is Lilo's "dog" and also her best friend, in their show they often seek out Hawaii and find other extraterrestrials (the bad ones) and send them back to space. In the image Rosmary has designed it has a chill and calm vibe. The setting is also chill and calm. Lilo and Stitch is sitting in the mild of the ocean listening to Lilo play her Ukelele. The colors and the way it was colored in isn't as aggressive as the images by Matt Taylor. As I look through Rosemary's portfolio, her posters have a chill vibe.
The "Never Grow Up" Art work can be found on the Mondo website, because they are posters you could buy one of the images shown in this document or anything else that catches your eye.
